ARIA and PPCA welcome additional funding for Support Act
Leading music industry bodies ARIA and PPCA today welcomed the announcement of an additional $20 million in funding for Support Act provided by the Australian Government through the Office for the Arts.
The additional funding will allow Support Act to continue its desperately needed work providing assistance to industry professionals who have lost their livelihoods as a result of lockdowns and restrictions associated with the pandemic.
ARIA and PPCA CEO, Annabelle Herd, said: “The additional funding for this amazing organisation could not come at a more critical time. The state of the industry is, frankly, dire. The unfortunate reality for countless industry professionals is a long road to recovery that extends far beyond the point of restrictions being lifted.
With that in mind, we wholeheartedly welcome continued support from the Australian Government, and highly encourage further investigation into what additional measures can be taken to provide life-saving aid, insure our industry against further setbacks and restore much-needed confidence in the market."
The funding provided to Support Act will also see it expand its crisis relief program to include live performing arts workers including those in theatre, dance and circus.
